Parsons, Ks – Needy families living within the Parsons telephone exchange area will be able to sign up for the Stella Wells Christmas Basket Program for three days only, starting today (mon.).  Individuals may apply in person at the Labette Assistance Center, 301 North 30th or call between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon through Wednesday at 421-2252 or 421-2225.

The application deadline is December 1st.  Donations of canned goods and staples may be left at the Parsons Cablevision office, Team Bank and Country Mart.  Because of storage and distribution problems, the basket program can not accept used toys or clothing.  Last year 685 baskets were filled.  It takes a lots of money and contributions of canned goods to provide for this many families so all donations are appreciated.
